While Africa boasts an overall warm climate with some extremes near the center of the continent, your beach trip will be best if you go during the warmer months of the year when the water is very pleasant. Around the southern tip of Africa, the ocean is cooler year-round, but still suitable for swimming in the summer months from November to March.
- Take sun protection seriously. High-SPF sunscreen, wide-brimmed hats, clothing with SPF protection, and dark sunglasses are all essentials when you’re packing for your African beach trip. Since you’ll be pretty close to the equator, the sun here will feel hotter and burn skin more easily. Don’t forget to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours for the best protection!
